Golden Cat Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park

A rare, researcher-led experience for dedicated wildlife enthusiasts.

The African golden cat is one of the most elusive cats in the forests of Uganda. UWA lists golden cat tracking in Kibale as a five-day activity in its 2027 tariff. See Kibale Forest and chimpanzee trekking.

See the wider Uganda wildlife authority tariff guide for every fee, and the permit price notice for 2027 changes.

Where This Fits in a Uganda Itinerary

Kibale Forest National Park, near Fort Portal, is best known for chimpanzee tracking and is a natural stop on a western Uganda circuit that links Queen Elizabeth with Bwindi.

Because it is a specialist activity, plan it around a longer Kibale stay rather than a one-night stop. Whatever you choose, build days around travel time: driving distances between the parks are long, and early starts are normal on a Uganda safari. If you are comparing destinations, start with Uganda's national parks and our Uganda safaris and tours.
