Chimpanzee Intelligence and Tool Use: Is There a Chimp IQ?

Chimps use tools, solve problems and recognise themselves, but IQ tests were designed for humans.

No reliable IQ score exists for chimpanzees, since IQ tests are designed for people. What researchers can show is that chimps use tools, such as sticks to fish for termites and stones to crack nuts, remember locations and cooperate in hunting.

Chimpanzees also recognise themselves in mirrors and communicate with gestures and calls. See lifespan and diet and chimp trekking in Uganda.
